Baypark 10th March

We had a good run at Baypark on Saturday night with 2 heats finishing 6th and 4th giving us grid 4 for the feature next to Ricky Loagn on 3 behind McDonald off grid 1 and Tyrell off grid 2.

Great race with some good battles for the lead with Tyrell. Finished the night in 2nd place behind Tyrell who drove a fantastic race and Ricky Logan finishing in 3rd

No racing for us next weekend, but will be heading To Palmerston North and Harrisville the following weekend.

Final Meeting Western Springs 3rd March 2012

Western Springs over for another year, interesting nights racing, our car came in after the feature with a completely slick right rear from so much wheel spin during the feature.

Heat 1 we started right off the back of the grid and finished in 6th place climbing up a few spots, the 2nd heat we lead and got passed by Jonathan before the yellow which meant Jonathan had to go back a  spot, however they declared the race but gave Jonathan the win.

We started the feature off grid 6 and finsihed in 4th postion behind Jonathan Allard, Daniel Eglleton and Jamie McDonald which was a great drive by all 3 of these guys.

We had 2 podiums to finish off the night claiming 2nd place for the Western Springs Series behind Jonathan Allard who has had such a great season and 2 points ahead of Ricky Logan.

We also got our 2nd place trophy for the International Sprintcar Series.

Off to Baypark next weekend

North Island Sprintcar Championship

Mmmmm where to start...................

The night started off well and we time trailed 5th behind Ryan, Ricky, Jamie Duff and Jonathan which wasn't bad considering we were first car out of the blocks, then things went kind of average really, we really struggled to get the power down on to the track and spent a lot of time wheel spinning and not making much ground, we tried changing a few things during the heats and set the car up to come on later on in the feature.

Our heat races we finished 4th and 6th giving us grid 7 for the main event

We started making up some spots in the feature race until we got a yellow. Daniel Eggleton went up and over Duffs right rear and hit the wall, a few laps later we did exactly the same thing.

The car hit the wall pretty hard and poor Dean was pretty sore and stiff for the next few days, he is in better shape than the car however, the Chassis is a write off, 3 shocks are gone, top wing, front end, rims, bars, engine etc etc etc I could go on but I'm sure you get my drift.

Thankfully our sponsors Edge Parts & Performance got another chassis up to us quickly and we are busy geting the car ready for the final round of Western Springs this weekend.

Western Springs Sat 18th Feb 2012

Well a disappointing and frustrating night for us. Heat 1 we got taken out by another car and flipped over, luckily the car could be fixed but its still costly and also it means we had a DNF in heat 1 so even though we had a 3rd place finish in our 2nd heat we had to start the feature on grid 14.

Dean drove well on a very dicey track to finish in 6th place.

Its a shame for the team who put effort in all year to get us to 2nd place in the points to be taken out by someone who is not in a points race. Unintentional I'm sure but still upsetting.

We are now in 3rd place 4 points behind Ricky Logan in 2nd, Jonathan Allard is in 1st place with one round to go on the 3rd March.

Off to Palmerston North next weekend for the North Island Sprintcar Title

Western Springs 11th Feb

Hi all

Back to sunny Auckland for the 3rd to last meeting at the Springs for the 2011/12 season.

The night started with us off the back of our 1st heat and a 7th place finish, we finished 3rd in our 2nd heat. This gave us grid 7 for the feature race.

A pretty full on feature race with cars on fire, tip ups and flat tyres and Jonathan Allard hung to win with a broken front shock, Ricky Logan crossed the line in 2nd and we came in 3rd for the final podium spot just passing Daniel Eggleton on the back straight.

Turned out to be a pretty goods nights racing with the Barry Butterworth Midget feature being a great race to watch also.

NZ Sprintcar Champs Christchurch

Hi all

Well that's the title all over for another year. Dean drove consistently well all weekend finishing his 5 heats with 1 x 4th and 4 x 2nd positions.

Dean qualified 2nd in points going onto the feature race on Saturday night. Sammy Swindell had qualified 1st and chose grid 2.

The start of the race saw Swindell and Allard take 1st and 2nd position after numerous yellows and incidents. Dean ran a close 3rd all race and was driving extremely well when we had a mechanical failure on the very last corner of the very last lap.

Absolute heartbreak for the team and especially Dean as we had a break in the drive line with really only a few more seconds to go.

Still on the upside Dean really holds his own against these guys and while its a real shame to see the NZ1, 2 and 3 positions all go to USA drivers and offshore its great to see Dean up there driving competitively and consistently at this standard.

Looking forward to Saturday night back at Western Springs.

Western Springs International Sprintcar Series - 5th Jan

Hi all

After finding a lot of damage done to the car at Baypark the boys had to work really hard to get it ready for Western Springs the following day. A huge thank you to the crew who worked all day to get the car ready and loaded to race.

We started our first heat from grid 10 and progressed up to a 5th place finish, our second heat we finished in 2nd place and after the marble draw we started the feature from grid 3 and we finished in 3rd place behind Jonathan in 1st and Ricky Logan in 2nd place. A good nights racing with a pleasing result. Also great to watch the Midget 50 lapper and see another huge crowd at Western Springs.

The final round of the series was supposed to be today but has been postponed until tomorrow due to rain, the forecast for tomorrow isn't look much better so will see if we get another run soon

Baypark 3rd January

We headed over to Baypark tonight with fingers crossed for good weather. There were 21 Sprintcars in all and they were all in for 2 heats.

The format for the feature race was for the top Qualifier to start of the rear and they get to pick who starts next to them off the back, then they pick the next and so on.

We had a DNF in the 1st heat with power steering issues and we finished 4th in heat 2.

We were picked to start the feature off grid 15 and Dean drove a great race and had climbed up to 5th when we got about the 5th yellow of the race. On the restart Ryan passed Dean and while going around the outside to try and pass him back down the straight we hit a rut which put us hard into the wall and we had a DNF for the night and suffered some damage to the car which the guys are frantically trying to fix now for tomorrow night at Western Springs.

It was an eventful nights racing with only 10 cars finishing the feature and a great race won by Jonathan Allard from the back.

An average nights racing on a less than average track.

We had 3 5th place finishes for the night, 2 from the heat races and for the feature race we started from grid 8 and climbed up to 5th which was pretty good going on a track that was follow the leader for the better part of the night, Baypark tomorrow night
